I have recently purchased an introductory flight with cabair at blackbusche. I would like any past expieriences of this company, or any comments about this company, because I am going to decide whether I should stick with this company through the duration of the PPL. Thank you very much.
There is a post under one of the threads on this forum somewhere but I can't find it to refer you to it. Basically the gist of the message was to avoid Cabair like the plague, the way it came over in the post made it sound as though they go out of their way to be unhelpful
Hi Aaron I'm back again. I found the post on Cabair. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, click on page 2 the post is entitled Cabair rant... Run away
I've had an introductory flight at Cabair Biggin Hill. No complaints about that, although I would say I'm not exactly qualified to comment on whether they are any good or not.
What I can say is I've been to see them and had a few 'phone conversions with them about PPL training and had some mixed responses. When I was a potential customer they were very friendly and helpful.
However when I phoned up to book a second lesson, before actually taking my first, I got very dismissive comments to my requests (the cynic in me believes the sudden change may be because they thought I had already pre-paid my fees). Having previously told me it was best to have the same instructor, when the same one wasn't available for my second lesson I was I told it didn't really matter what instructor I had.
I've since cancelled my lessons and started reconsidering which school to go with. Cabair's pricing structure seems to be very much geared to getting you to pay all your fees upfront, tieing you to them for the duration of your course.
I get the impression they play on their 'big company' image against the 'small clubs' and prey on the lack of knowledge of prospective students. I'm probably being a bit harsh but it's just a feeling I got.
Just never try to ask them about Instrument Ratings for the PPL... (or indeed anything else beyond the PPL other than self-fly-hire at extortionate rates).
