It is TRUE. NONE of the Moderators on Prune are actually pilots, not even ppl students. It is all a con "by the way you will get a job in aviation if you network on the prune site." They run the site full time and get payed for all the commercial advertising that is displayed on each page. The Mods are far too rude and unstable to be in charge of the hanger door let alone a real aircraft. You have all been taken in by a bunch of money grabbing nobody's with no interest in aviation issues.    Report

Pprune.com While there are a lot of people genuinely interested in talking aviation, Pprune is NOT the site, it is unproffesional amateur and un neccesary when good sites like this one exist. If so i would use a mainstream forum software (ie vbulletin/ipb/phpbb/smf) as its much better at handling multiple members. Theres just no clear path with yours although i do applaud you in starting your own. Mine is 70% complete and will be awesome when finished. Matt    Report

I was thinking that too... its nowhere near complete as there are loads more features to add to it and updating the current stuff. No its not joomla whatever that is... the point is its not just forums, there are tooo many of them around. What is your site? I am going to change the Buy, sell and stores links to Forums   Groups   Trade... would that make it better?    Report

Lots of people like that forum and if you don't, get to hell out of it. The trouble with this country today is that if some people get offended they think that everything should be banned immediately. You need to get out a bit more Paul and you will see that the world is a tough place and you need to get much tougher!!    Report

I think its just that people would like to talk to other people without someone being all ego-crazy or offensive over a topic that doesn't warrant such behaviour. I myself regulary comment on YouTube videos regarding aviation, for reasons that 99% of the time are either educational or corrective of fact and I nearly always get private messages and replies saying thank you and asking more questions because my reply was such that they benefit. This is what it should be about - people who just have large ego's should leave them at the door, as the reponsive would be a lot harsher in real life and often people grow ego's behind their keyboards. Just my opinion from a perspective as a student PPL, moderator to forums and regular user of the internet.    Report

You are absolutely correct Chris and I'm sure you agree with me that if someone is full of his own bullsh*t we simply work around him. I'm worried that if we all follow the PC dictat that advocates the banning of anything controversial or of an offensive nature (to a few people) we shall stand the chance of missing something that is a hidden gem. Most of the stuff on Pprune is excellent and it would be a shame to lose this for the sake of a few idiots, moderators included!    Report

One time I was making a perfectly valid point about the somewhat arcane and rather specialist subject of establishing a truly accurate weight for aircraft in day-to-day operations. The PPRUNE moderator retorted with the assertion- "I know all about this . I weigh aircraft all the time" (clearly untrue -  he obviously he knew very little about the subject) and my modest little post was removed because it challenged his claims. These guys - if indeed they are guys - make Soviet era censors look positively liberal. What anyone reads on Pprune is only ever half the story.      Report
