ATPL Theory Schools

Hi all,

I am looking at starting my ATPL Theory but by the classroom route instead of distance learning, and I wondered what schools people were recommending. The schools I am interested in are:

1. Cabair EPTA (Bournemouth)
2. Bournemouth Commercial Flight Training
3. CATS - Cranfield Aviation (Luton)
4. Oxford Aviation Academy
5. London Met Business School (who also do a full time ATPL course)

...unless anyone know of any other good schools.

Could someone please give me their thoughts on any of the above. I am particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has studied at CATS as this is close to where I live.

Bristol Ground school all the way!

Most people on my course including myself hit high 90's accross all of the ATPLs with help from Bristol groundschool.

Not sure if they run individual classes throughout each module but they definatly do excellent brush up courses if you want them prior to your exams (lasting a few weeks)

Hi Morbz,

I didnt want to go down the distance learning route. Have heard Bristol are good but its a shame they dont do full time classroom courses.

Man, don't EVER think of joining CATS or Cabair or anything associated with Cabair !!!!!!!!!!!
Man, I'm in the school right now, got 2 weeks left to finish ground school, and can't wait to leave the school !!!!!
Its sooo awfully horrible !!!! its pure rabbishness !!! the administration is sooo bad and the flight training is sooo bad man !!!
I've spoken with virtually every student in flight school and not a single 1 is liking it !!! they're only still there coz they already paid for the whole thing !!!!
As regarding ground school, its quite horrible too, a totally horrible ground chef instructor along with other instructors ! a couple of amazing instructors thoug.h
Cranfield is a really bad place too !! There is NOTHING in it !!! Not a single student here right now would recommend CATS for u !
Man, save urself, don't come here !!!!
Sorry for the long comment, I just want u to get the whole picture, don't want u to suffer as every1 here is !

On the other hand, I've heard a LOT about BCFT !!! the environment there is amazing, amazing instructors, and perfect availability and everything !
As for the others, I don't really have much of a clue.

Unsure what you are on about mate. I am currently at CATS (Luton) who haved moved away from Cranfield for over a year now I believe.

I have currently been at CATS full time sinly July... and I can tell you they are brilliant and could not do more for you...

However let it be known - they have a relaxed atmosphere and do not treat you like you are in school and pay an additional 1500 for it!

We have just completed 6 exams of Stage 1 and all 7 of us have all passed first time with .95%....and funny enough we all albeit 1 only used CATS question bank!

I would suggest to anyone - go check these places out for yourself and make your mind up - as oppsed to reading posts ....

Now I will go and gulp down a decent JD on the rocks...as I gloat over my passes!
