Hey guys, Iv recently started doing my PPL and even though I know I can get by with a Class 2 Medical, for different reasons, i'm in persist of the Class 1. I'm currently 17, and I am in a decent physical state, I dont smoke, I'm not under or overweight, I have good hearing abilities together with eyesight and have not had any serious medical conditions in the past. However, I do not excercise very much for a boy of my age. I was just wondering, for anyone who has passed their Class 1 medical, what can you suggest for me to do over the next 3-4 weeks in order for me to be ready for this assessment? For the past 3 days I'v been been cycling at a steady pace for around an hour an evening together with 45 minutes of jogging. I'v even picked up some 5kg dumbbells today for arm training. Can anyone suggest any routines or even a change in diet that will help me to pass this test? Thanks very much ~Aeroman1
Carry on with what you are doing. Not for the medical but because it's good for you! As far as the medical goes you will sail through it unless you have a medical condition that makes you unsafe. "Fitness" wise the only thing I can think of is a lung function test which you would pass even if you were a smoker!
So should I just book the test now? As previously mentioned, no medical conditions what so ever, Very good eyesight, and hearing, strong heart, good stamina (not amazing though- I thinks thats why i'm a little worried about lung test)
My thinking about medicals is... sooner the better.
If they are going to find something that could obstruct you from achieving your primary goal, better sooner than later. At least then you can just apply for Class 2 and still enjoy flying.
