No reason you can't be a commercial pilot. The biggest struggle for most people at the moment is finance and that doesn't look like it'll be changing any time soon (the days of airline-sponsored training are long gone now, so you have to pay your own way). Smoking's being covered on the other thread. There are plenty of other lady-pilots in both professional and private flying (and ATC, military etc. etc.) so you won't just be "a girl in a mans world".
As for books, I'm not sure about SA but in the UK there are 2 main textbook publishers. Ask when you have your flight and they should be able to point you in the right direction.
Try not to worry about spending the money and "failing". My dad dropped out of his PPL course with about 10hrs to go due to lack of funds, but still rates it as one of his best experiences and well worth it even though he never actually got his license. Some even say that learning is the most fun you ever have in an aeroplane. Just give it a go and see where it takes you. Try not to worry about where your future in flying is too much and just enjoy what you're doing at the moment, that's what I'm trying to do.

This isn't completely surprising, as it allows blood tanking to scale properly with boss damage, healing a given percentage of the damage, which should make it more predictable and easier to balance. Well done on your first solo Timmy. I solo'ed for the first time on 23rd June 2010 at Bodmin Airfield in a Robin R2160i, and the smile was on my face for weeks!
