I recently completed my CAA JAA Class 2 for PPL - when the lives of other people and your own is at stake, lieing on a medical isn't the right thing to do in my book.
I told my AME everything, even things from an operation when I was a kid that had nothing to do with my ability to fly and felt better for it.
I also discussed the NPPL medical requirement with my AME and how silly it seems - considering that the same risks apply to flying with poor health and saying you are safe to drive a truck is only accounting for some of the many skills required for flying. Having completed and passed my medical, i felt that all the things that he checked were justified to my safety in the air. Nothing less would have seemed adequate.
